CHINESE INVESTMENT GROUP ARRIVES IN YAP
The Chinese Investment Delegation-Exhibition and Travel Group from Chengdu has arrived on a chartered flight to Yap today August 2nd, 2011. The group will be in Yap to further discuss a major tourism project with the Yap State Government.

Officials of the State Government were on hand to receive the special guests as they arrive at the Yap International Airport at 4:00pm this afternoon.

Members of an advance team, which was dispatched to Yap by the ETG earlier to make final arrangement of the visit were also at the Airport to greet them upon arrival.

Members of the Advance Team include Mr. Carl Apis, Charge’ d’ Affaires of the FSM Embassy in Beijing, Mr. Sun Haihao, General Director of International Investment Department of Exhibition and Travel Group, and Mr. Yang Gang, General Director, South Pacific Tourism & Culture Promotion Center.

The Exhibition and Travel Group is comprised of 15 members including several representatives from the Chengdu government who also traveled with the group to meet with their counterpart at the state level to strengthen the good relation between the two governments.

The group paid a courtesy call on Governor Sebastian Anefal at 4:30 pm this afternoon before attending a welcoming dinner reception scheduled to be at the Marina Bar and Grill Restaurant at 7:00 pm this evening. The Government had also scheduled a traditional Yapese dance to be performed at the Colonia Community Center prior to the dinner reception.

The Yap State Government and ETG will begin their discussion on Wednesday August 3, 2011 and will continue until they are complete depending on the number of issues that will need to be discussed between the two parties.

While in Yap the ETG will be involved in discussions with the State Public Service Corporation and other services that the ETG might have interest to discuss with. They will also be joining some activities such as land tour, diving, traditional canoe sailing, and fishing.

The delegation will depart on the chartered flight from Yap to Chengdu on August 6, 2011.

ETG BEGINS TOUR OF YAP ISLAND
The Chinese Exhibition and Travel Group (ETG) has begun its tour in Yap by taking a boat ride to the northern part of the island on Wednesday August 3, 2011 where they visited the Yap Cultural Center at Bechiyal, Maap during lunch break yesterday.
The group spent several hours on the beach in Maap before they return back to Colonia in the evening. Technical Experts from the ETG have also avail their time yesterday by meeting with the Yap State Public Service Corporation to discuss the detail of its service which is part of ETG's plan to assist YSPSC by increasing the load capacity of its power plant to accommodate the demand that will come about as a result of its proposed multi-million development project on the island.

The Chinese Exhibition and Travel Group (ETG) hosted a dinner reception for the government at the Yap Pacific Dive Resort Cave & Bar Restaurant in the evening.

Part of the activities scheduled for the ETG today included a tour of the Cultural Center in Kaday village, a tourist site in Weloy municipality and Sunset Drinks at Malay where members of the group have enjoyed their drinks as they spent time on the beach watching the sunset from the Kanifay Recreational Park.

The ETG and the officials from the Chengdu government will continue with their schedule on Friday August 5th before they depart from Yap on Saturday August 6th, 2011.

ETG DEPARTS FROM YAP ON SATURDAY
The Chinese Investment Delegation-Exhibition and Travel Group from Chengdu have departed from Yap last Saturday August 6, 2011. The group departed on the same-chartered flight that brought them to Yap earlier to further discuss the major tourism project, which it has proposed with the Yap State Government.

Prior to its departure on Saturday, the delegation held a meeting with the State Leadership at the Small Business Development Center on Friday August 5, 2011 where they presented to the Government an image of the plan and how they intend to develop the island within the next five years following the approval of the project.

On behalf of the State Government and the people of Yap, Governor Sebastian Anefal also updated the group on the collaboration between the State of Yap and the FSM National Government in trying to get things done for the project. He told the ETG that Yap would need time to review the Master Plan before making any decision. The Governor said although he fully supports the investment project, the approval of the plan rests with the people of Yap.

The Yap State Government hosted that evening a farewell dinner reception at the ESA Hotel in honor of the ETG where each of the members was presented a gift by the government. The whole State Leadership and many others from the Government including the Private Sector attended that reception.
